In addition to pledge cards, HWA runners may use the following appeal letter / email (with customisations for those segment in blue) to canvass for donations from their personal contacts.

I am writing to seek your support in contributing to a charity fund-raising drive for the Handicaps Welfare Association.

Come 3 December 2006, we aim to gather 250 avid runners to GO THE EXTRA MILE and help raise at least SG$50,000 for HWA as they take part in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2006 (SCSM 06).

HWA is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhance the lives of people with physical disabilities in Singapore. Examples of activities undertaken by HWA include much needed rehabilitation services, transport service and training for people with physical disabilities, allowing them to lead fuller lives and contribute back to society.

Thus, I am seeking your generous support through cash sponsorship to help HWA GO THE EXTRA MILE in their efforts to enhance the lives of the physically disabled and help them integrate into society.

*This charity fund raising drive has been approved by the National Council of Social Service. More information on HWA is available at www.hwa.org.sg. All funds raised will go directly to HWA. For every $1 raised through this project, at least $0.70 goes to fund services and programmes that benefit HWA members.
